Best Blender For Smoothies- One For Every Budget

If you’re planning on getting healthy and making berry or green smoothies, then you will want the best blender for smoothies available. This means figuring out the differences between the different blenders on the market. Some are not designed for making smoothies, but are instead more for general cooking. You don’t want to get stuck with one of those because it won’t make your smoothies “smooth” enough and you’ll be stuck with lots of other.

Fruit Vs Veggies: Why You Need A Special Blender For Green Smoothies

When it comes to making smoothies, be it fruit smoothies or green smoothies, the important aspect is that it breaks down the fruit of vegetables completely. You don’t want chunks of fruit floating around, or chunks or kale or spinach. Instead, you want a blender that is going to completely break down the fiber in the fruit or veggies and make a smooth and delicious drink.

Bullet vs Jar: What Size Is Best

There are several different kinds of blenders that can be used for smoothies. The classic shaped blenders, and the bullet blender. The classic design blender will be the most powerful and if you’re planning on making green smoothies with kale and apples, then this is the one you should choose.

For almost all purposes, I recommend that you choose a blender with a jar. A Ninja or a Vitamix blender with a nice size blending jar will be more versatile than bullet blender.

My Ranking of the Best Blenders for Smoothies

I am going to list what I consider the best blenders for smoothies. I’ve spent an enormous ammount of time researching these models and brands. Not only have I brought and used many, but I’ve read reviews, watched videos, and asked around in forums for personal experiences.

What I have done here is segmented them by use. So, for instance, you might see that there is a blender for people who are on a tight budget, and there is also a blender for people who want to make green smoothies. Each application is a bit different and warrants a different blender. Idealy everyone would be able to buy a Vitamix, but that’s not possible, so I wanted to present the best option in class for each blender.

Buying A Blender On Budget: Best Blender For The Money

If you don’t have the budget for a big smoothie blender, then you can still get a really nice bullet blender. These are perfectly fine for making berry smoothies, and more fruit smoothies. They do handle hard fruit a bit less efficiently than the big blenders, so if you’re making a smoothie with pineapple and apples, I would suggest the bigger design.

You can make a green smoothie, but you are going to have to be more careful when selecting produce. You don’t want to pick out curly kale or dino kale, you’re going to have a problem. This doesn’t mean that you can’t make vegetable juices, but what it does mean is that you’re going to have to select things like baby spinach and baby kale and microgreens.

If you’re someone who has been looking at youtube videos and have started looking into smoothies, then you have realized that you have to get a smoothie blender. This article will give you the lowdown on what is the best blender for smoothies. It’s also going to be cost conscious.

You don’t want to waste time or money on something that is simply too expensive and not going to give you what you want. And you also don’t want to waste your hard earned dollars on something that is overkill. Because if you are only going to be blending up berries and ice, or protein powder and something such as cashew milk…then you don’t need to spend the same amount of money as if you were looking to make smoothies with frozen bananas, or apples or pineapple.

If you’re going to get a bullet blender, I’d suggest getting one with a decent sized motor such as this Ninja model.

Best Overall Blender For Smoothies

Here’s what you’ve been looking for. The meat of the article, which will focus on blender reviews is going to give you a breakdown on what are the best blenders for the money. Now, keep in mind that everyone has a different understanding of what is “best”. But, suffice to say

Vitamix 5200 Series Blender, Black

This is the best blender period. It’s pricey, but if you want to blend up anything such as carrots, pineapple, apples, or kale (especially kale!) then this is the blender for you. It’s considered the best blender on the market year after year, and for good reason. People love the versatility as well as the ease of use. Also, it will blend up vegetables and fruit like no other. Simply put, there is no better blender on the market. Countless magazine and cooking shows have used, reviewed, and recommended these blenders.

  1. Super easy to use.
  2. Super easy to clean.
  3. Blends up everything.
  4. Nuts, Seeds, Greens, Fruits.

The vitamix is the king of the blenders and it will make the best smoothies. The advantage to using the vitamix over other types of smoothies is that it will completely puree your fruits and vegetables, and even can handle seeds. This is great if you’re adding stuff like flax seeds, or walnuts to your smoothies to get extra protein and healthy fat. While it is expensive, you can look at it as an investment.

Think of all of the money you will save by avoiding purchasing smoothies out at health food stores. You also have the advantage of making them exactly how you like, with the exact ingredients that you have chosen. This means you don’t have to wonder about organic or non-organic foods, you will know because you’re juicing your own fruits and veggies.

This is a powerful beast. It will turn kale and frozen fruit into a delicious smoothie. These are also super easy to clean, so you can use them several times a day without having to hassle about taking apart the jar and scrub it out.

It’s a BPA free design. The blades will make everything completely processed so that you don’t get any unpleasant chunks of fruit or unblended seeds.

Another nice thing about this blender is that it is made in The USA.

It has a 64 ounce container. You can read more by visiting Amazon and seeing what other people have to say about it.

Pros & Cons

  • The Most Durable Blender Available
  • Super Easy To Use and Clean

  • Reliable and Worth The Money
Cons
  • Pricey

Best Small Blender For Smoothies

If you don’t feel like you have the budget for a big blender, then this is the best alternative. The Magic bullet blender is a small design, but a powerful blender. You can blend up kale as long as you choose a microgreen kale. You might also want to get baby spinach and blend this into your smoothie.

It’s also perfect for frozen berries and all other fruits that you would want to blend up. Just keep in mind that if you’re looking for a big powerhouse blender capable of blending up tough leafy greens, then you’ll probably want to go with the Vitamix. However, if you’re satisfied with microgreens and baby spinach and fruit, then this will work just fine.

Magic Bullet NutriBullet 12-Piece High-Speed Blender/Mixer System

If you’re not going to be blending up greens such as kale or spinach, and are making more of a fruit based smoothie, then the bullet blender style is fine. These are perfect for taking something such as frozen fruit, yogurt, coconut water, almond milk, or nut butters. You can even add protein powders to them to make them a great post-workout smoothie.

Pros & Cons

Pros
  • Small and Portable
  • Doesn’t Take Up Space
  • Easy To Use
  • Quiet (compared to other blenders)
  • Simple To Clean
Cons
  • Limited Capacity

However, if you are looking to make green smoothies, then I do think you are best served with getting a Vitamix. You don’t want to try making these smoothies in a bullet blender unless you are using microgreens. In that case, if you’re using baby spinach, or baby kale, it is doable, but really it’s going to not be as easy as using the big Vitamix.

Best Blender For Smoothies : Entry Level Option

Sometimes you don’t want a bullet blender but you also don’t feel like spending a lot of money for one of the best blenders on the market that happens to come with a huge price tag. If you do want a great countertop blender, but you also don’t want to spend a ton of money, then you should look at one of the cheaper blenders on the market (cheap blender in this case does not mean something that is cheaply made, it just means something that is not too expensive). And there are plenty of options to choose from.

This blender is considered one of the best blenders for beginners because it’s easy to use, easy to clean and is cheap when compared to some of the super expensive blenders on the market.

The one I am going to focus on is the Ninja Blender. These are really popular and get great reviews. They also won’t break the bank when it comes to the price tag. The one I am going to focus on is the Ninja Professional. This one is great because it has a BPA free design.

This is my go to blender and one that is totally recommend. It’s quiet and also easily blends up anything you throw at it.

Pros & Cons

Pros
  • Large Blending Jar
  • Durable
  • Can Make Most Things (including Nut Butter)
  • Not Expensive
Cons
  • Not The Best at Making Leafy Green Smoothies

Best Blender For Green Smoothies

This is a big topic. So big, in fact, that I wrote a whole article reviewing the best blenders for green smoothies. When you are making a smoothie with fresh or frozen fruit, most blenders can make do (as long as you avoid the cheap ones). You can use a Bullet Blender, a Ninja, or even an Oster blender.

However, whenever you plan on blending leafy greens and other veggies and making a green smoothie, you need to make sure you get a really high end blender. Otherwise you will be left with a gloppy mess. The kale won’t blend up right, or the little bits of celery will end up floating around your shaker bottle.

What I advise is to invest into a VitaMix. While they are pricey, they get the job done.

Pros & Cons

Pros
  • The Most Durable
  • Simple to Use
  • Easy to Clean
  • Great Customer Support
  • Can Blend Anything
Cons
  • Pricey
