What is the Best and Quietest Blender

When it comes to choosing a blender, one of the chief concerns that people have is noise. There are a lot of blenders that work well to make smoothies. But what this article is designed to cover are quiet blenders.

Some blenders are fantastic at making fruit smoothies, others work well when you’re looking to make green smoothies.

However, not many blenders are quiet. In fact, most blenders that you get from major retailers are loud. Blenders are not quit by design. We’ll cover this in more detail later –why exactly blenders are not quiet, but the fact is that it’s very hard to find a quiet blender.

You can get a quiet blender, but it requires you to limit your search to only blenders that have been designed to handle noise in a special way.

Are All Blenders Noisy?

Blenders, by design, are noisy. It’s just part of their design. The way in which blenders work is that they use blades to crush fruit, vegetables, ice, or nuts.

That process causes noise. It’s inevitable. If you are using a blender, then you’re going to create noise.

It’s not just blenders that create noise. If you look at food processors, which operate in a similar manner, you’ll see that the method of using a blender to chop up a banana or almonds is going to create a lot of noise.

Some blenders create less noise than others. For instance, an immersion blender is less noisy than traditional jar blender.

But what if you don’t want an immersion blender? What if you want a large jar blender to make green smoothies or fruit smoothies?

Well, if that’s the case, you are going to either have to deal with some noise or else you should look into getting a blender with a protective casing that dampens the sound.

The only way that a blender can dampen sound is to have the blending unit enclosed in a sort of sound proof container. It’s what you see in videos online.

Here’s a great example of the perfect quiet blender design. Essentially you’re dealig with a sound proof shield that dampens the sound of the blednder as it’s making a smoothie.

What Makes a Blender Quiet

A soundproof or sound dampening guard makes a blender quiet. There’s no other way to make a blender quiet.

It’s quite simple. Blenders make noise because of two things:

The motor on a blender makes noise.

The blades themselves make noise when they blend up the ingredients especially if they are blending things like frozen fruit, ice, or nuts.

It’s basically impossible to quiet a blender in any method other than dampening the sound.

If you want a quiet blender, you’re going to need a specially designed quiet blender. One that has an encasement to create a soundproof design.

Why You’d Want a Quiet Blender?

quiet blenders

Well, the obvious reasons are noise. I don’t like the loud noise that comes from blending up fruits and vegetables.

And even if you don’t mind the loud sound that a blender makes, that doesn’t mean that your roommates or neighbors or family don’t mind.

The number one buyer of quiet blenders is often Gyms, Hotels, Health Spas and other areas were the blender is out in the public and not in the back kitchen.

In fact, you can see one here in Will Tennyson’s latest video where he does a tour of one of the upscale Miami gyms.

Of course, if you are someone who is noise sensitive, then it makes sense to get a quiet blender for your home as well.

I’m not super sensitive to noise, but even I think that a quiet blender is a huge bonus.

This is especially true if you’re used to blending frozen fruit or ice. I can’t tell you how often I cringe at the super loud sound of ice being crushed in a blender.

If you do it once in a while, then it’s not a problem. But if you’re someone who is constantly blending up crushed ice or frozen fruit or nuts with your smoothies, then it might be worth your investment to get a quiet blender.

Here’s the thing. Blenders are judged on how quiet they are based on the decibel. It’s the same with radios, power tools, and other power tools.

The louder the noise coming from the blender, the more disturbance in the room and in the surroundings.

And while this noise can often times be negated by not using frozen fruit or by thawing it, it’s not completely avoidable. Most of the noise comes from the engine or motor in the blender compartment.

So, in essence, what happens is that the blender makes a tremendous noise from its base. Which you can’t control even if you limit the amount of ice, frozen fruit or nuts that you put into the blender jar.

The Quietest Blenders Available: Top Picks

So here are some of the blenders that actively seek to mitigate the noise problem. They do this using noise buffering design. Here’s a few to check out:

In prior articles I’ve covered topics such as which bledners are best for ice, or which blenders work best with frozen fruit for smoothies.

While I still like the blender models that I covered in each of those articles, I do suggest that if you are noise sensitive and prefer to have almost no sound disturbance while you making your blender drinks or smoothies, it would be ideal to just go ahead and get a quiet blender.

Of the ones listed above, obviousy Vitamix has the best rep in the industry, but I do understand that they can be a bit pricey.

If you’re on a budget, and just want to get the most popular and best rated of the bunch, I’d stick with the WantJoin Professional Quiet Blender.

This blender is going to give you the most bang for your buck in regards to being quiet, super durable, powerful and a good compact size. It’s not some super large and clunky blender that you’d really only want if you had a professioanl kitchen space. This one fits nicely in a regular home kitchen.
