Is It Worth it To Buy a Blender?

Since I decided to create an entire blog about  blenders, I figured it would be helpful to answer a common question: is it worth it to buy a blender?

That’s a question that everyone who lands on my blog has asked themselves. It’s a good question to ask before you buy a blender (and before you buy any kitchen appliance). Is it worth it?

Does it Make Sense To Buy a Blender?

Let’s discuss. And even though I am a big fan of blenders, I don’t think that everyone should buy one. Blenders take up room in your kitchen. That’s the main thing I want people to think about.

A good blender (Ninja, Nutribullet) won’t cost a lot of money. Vitamix does cost a lot of money, but it’s still a cost saver for people who are going to use the blender.

That’s the point I want to address. Will you use a blender? Ask yourself this question honestly. The answer to this question will determine if you are ready to buy a blender and if it’s worth it.

If you are someone who makes frozen coffee (or wants to make it at home instead of buying it out) and make smoothies and puree soups, then yeah, a blender totally makes sense.

There are a lot of people who are blender fans, and you don’t have to be a health nut!

Want to lose weight? A blender will help, you can make calorie light smoothies.

Want to get in shape? A blender will let you make protein smoothies!

Want to get healthy? A blender will let you make green smoothies.

Is It Worth Buying a Blender?

What I always like to do is tell people to write down a list of what they either buy or would like to buy that is made with a blender.

Do you buy frozen coffees? Do you buy smoothies? Protein shakes? If you do, then it is totally worth buying a blender.

When you consider that a frozen coffee will run you anywhere from 3 bucks to 8 dollars (depending on where you live) and smoothies can run as high as 14 dollars….then you see the cost savings that owning your own blender will provide.

So, yeah, it’s totally worth buying a blender. And I don’t say that just because I like blenders, I say that as someone who thinks that it’s better to have control over the food you put in your body.

You don’t really know the quality of the ingredients that a smoothie store will use. Do they use organic? Do they even use fresh fruit? Is there fruit washed properly? What sort of protein powder do they use (if it’s the cheap stuff sourced from china, then you definitely need to make your own protein smoothies).

Honestly, with a blender you have so much more control over everything. You can make a vegan protein smoothie with organic pea protein sourced from California (shout out to NorCal…link at the bottom). Or you could use a grass fed whey protein (organic) and fresh organic vegetables that you know are clean.

I’ve heard and seen too many horror stories from people who buy their smoothies out to ever go back to buying smoothies from a smoothie store.

How Much Money Will You Save Buying A Blender?

The amount of money that you save when buying a blender is going to be dependent upon how many frozen drinks (coffee, or other frozen drinks) smoothies or protein shakes you normally buy.

When you consider that the average smoothie is around 7 bucks and an ice coffee is around 3 or 4 bucks, then it’s a simple calculation.

A low priced Ninja or Nutribullter blender is going to run anywhere from 70 to 100 bucks. So it becomes a simple calculation. Tally up the number of frozen coffees that you drink in a given month (or year) and then count up the number of smoothies that you drink. It should be clear if it’s worth buying a blender from a strict dollar analysis.

My final thoughts on buying a blender? It’s worth it for the majority of people who are considering it. You’re going to save money, and you are also going to have control over just exactly what is in your smoothie, shake, frozen coffee, etc….

If you’ve decided that it is worth buying a blender and that you want to get one, the next step is to figure out which one you should get.

I’ve written quite a bit about different styles of belnding, and which blender is best for which purpose. Here’s a link to a few of those specific articles.
